As most youngsters prefer western clothing, the evolution of the kurti top has come to the forth. Many young and not so young ladies team Indian style western tops with jeans, skirts and pants.
The tops are mainly long sleeves, but there are varieties of cuts and styles in them to suit the insatiable desire to look hip and trendy. The tops come with Indian hand-work and embroidery, and many western labels and designers have included hand-work on their tops and blouses as well.
The tops are either casual everyday-wear pieces or lavishly sequined or embroidered pieces for cocktails, tea parties etc.
Most of the hand-work is done on the neck and the sleeves. The more heavily embellished kurti tops have the hand-work done on the bottom front and the back of the kurti tops as well.
As with Punjabi suits, having dress bias-cut tops, even kurti tops have been cut or designed in this way. The bottom of the tops have slanting and v-cut endings. The latest trends also have heavily embroidered bustiers and corsets. These can either be worn with jeans or a matching plain flare or straight skirt.
Plenty of choice for the discerning few dreaming of being the star of the party.
